Carp are usually found in still or slowly flowing waters at low altitudes, especially in areas where there is abundant aquatic vegetation. They are also found in brackish lower reaches of some rivers and coastal lakes. Even though carp start their spawning process in the late spring, fall/winter is your best chance to get a large carp! The state record carp is 50 lb. 6 oz.. The best recommended gear is size 2-6 hooks and 8-12 lb test line. And again, your chances for catching a carp are usually the lowest during the summer months and highest during the fall/spring.
