Hi everyone, Water is running @ 500 cfs….Is there fish in the Salmon river? Not on every cast!! Fishermen working hard for Browns, Steelhead, Salmon and the occasional Rainbow trout got fish. Most hooked, seen or landed fish. Sticking on the river from dawn to dusk produced catches. Little pushes of Kings mixed with a few browns. Mid day late afternoon I saw movement three days in a row with some Steelies laying in the Town pool. Every day is a new day on the Salmon river and remember I’m right here teaching helping fishermen 16 hours a day. All fish are heading ONE WAY to spawn, feed or die. With a little bit of patience and determination you’ll catch fish. Brown’s tight in the skein with lake colors will move in to spawn and we have the water for them. Sometimes when there getting there spawning colors on the lower they will loosen, spawn and release back into the lake. There’s a whole spawning month ahead of us and the leaves aren’t off the trees. When we are battling leaves we are battling browns. We had our first cast and blast weekend!! Hunt one day fish the next makes for a ton of fun. Guides worked hard and did well. There was action on duck, Goose, Deer and fish!! My girlfriends brother got a ten point buck this weekend I’m waiting on a pic good job Andrew!!! Pics are from this weekend. Happy fishing!! srss j button

Hi everyone, Water is running @ 185 cfs…. First King Salmon of the season brought in to Salmon river sports shop caught behind the store. Reports of fish hooked on the big wall, in the ballpark and Black hole. Not a big run by any means. Mostly locals fishing and spotting a few here or there. We are encouraging locals and fishermen not to far away to come out and see if they spot or hook one. Real good reports from the lake!!!! Still early tho and we have a few more hot days ahead. We are busy getting ready and hope to have a good year. Call 315 298 4343 for more info… Happy fishing srss j. button

Hi everyone, Water is running @ 185 cfs. Hope everyone is having a good summer!!! Like we have done for years and we tell most, being a small family owned business does give us a break in the summer months. Not a lot of fish in the river at this time but my daughter Alexa has been dry fly fishing and picking up some small stream browns, looking for a nice size Atlantic!! My son Malcolm and I have been splitting some time in the canoe picking up a little bit of everything but mainly bass. The question on everyone’ s mind is will we have King Salmon and when will they get here? We never really know when or how many. The lake reports have been better of late reporting better size. We will keep a better eye on the lake as we creep closer to migration. We have been sending out lake trips from the store and so far the feed back has been positive. Lets stay optimistic and hope this years return is in better numbers. The store will be open August 15th 6am to 6pm and will take off from there. We have been busy getting ready and the hot line is open!! Happy fishing!!!! srss j. buttonIMG952016041995165631Vinny pics (2)IMG_8642

Hi everyone, Hunting seasons are in full swing. Most locals are out chasing deer. Not a lot of reports on movement and kills, but cold nights are starting to creep in and some heavy frosts so deer should start getting ready to rut. We put in the store a few doe pees, sprays, calls and light duty gear. I’m excited when my family gets meat in the freezer! Can’t wait to hit the dinner plate!! We offer guide service for hunting and fishing. We have booked trips for half days so that you can enjoy both. Call the shop for more info! Water on the river is still running @ 350 cfs. Still looking for change. Rain in the for cast here, there, with some warm afternoons witch seems to pick up the bite. Pail pink is working for most and egg sacs have been working the best. A lighter color egg white, cream, sky blue, light cheese, and milking egg pink. When water chills sometimes getting away from bright colors is the change we need to pick up a bite. Happy hunting and fishing! Enjoy your week. srss j.button20151005_182501  received_10156437414840556FOT2C00 (2)
