Hi everyone, Salmon river is running @1650 cfs… Trout really picking up! If you haven’t had a chance to fish Now’s the time. We are riding into another storm system that will produce more movement. Some good catches over the last few days. Flies are hitting on the creeks and steams with the water down. We are running a lot of live bait but for fly fisherman San-won worms are producing strikes. Hopefully this bite will continue over the next couple of weeks as the fish return to the lake. Perch!! perch!! perch!! Nice to see a real good return on the east end of Lake Ontario this year. Almost to the point of fishermen getting tired of catching them!! Some have peeled of to chase after Crappie, Bullhead, White Perch which are spawning too and Rock Bass. Seeing that time were you can target several different kinds of FISH! All pics are from the last few days. Happy fishing!! srss j button

Hi everyone,Salmon river is running @1650 cfs… Solid reports of Steelhead being caught in the Salmon river mainly drift boats. More fish then people!! Peeling the banks, behind islands, side steams, mouths of creeks, feeder streams and back eddies are ware you’ll find fish. The Hatchery has taken on more fish which is always good news. Most of the fishing is up river!! Not much pressure on the lower half. Great time to take advantage of those seems tight to the banks threw town and they look good!! Local creeks have fish!! Now that there down to a moderate flow, locals have bin getting a few domestic trout. The best reports have bin on the lake pounding the banks for browns!! Perch fishing is real good most everyone getting limits. Jigs tied into a calf tail tipped with a minnows will produce strikes. Fish tails we use to call them tying the v shape to look like a fish tail. Crappie and Blue gills hit them too. Purple and Chartreuse have always bin our best colors and I’m tying up a nice selection. Blue gill season is just around the corner as water warms Sunfish will become more active. Happy fishing!! srss j button

Hi everyone, Salmon river is running @ 1750 cfs… Fishing is starting to pick up!! Salmon River Sports Shop is now always open!! Perch is leading the way, mainly spawners and a few build backs. Perch will spawn in the shallows and then release back to deeper water to feed. Most Perch fishermen are getting good numbers. Looks like we are picking up where we left off Ice fishing. All of the east end of Lake Ontario having Perch. Bullhead bite on these warmer nights is producing catches. The Bullhead I have in my tank are burping up leeches. We have leeches in stock along with all the baits. I’m buying Bullhead for 50 cents a pound and throw back the big one’s. Crappie are in most slips and in good numbers. We have Buckeyes, Rosy’s and Fatheads. Minnows are best when there stacking up to spawn. The best news on Trout the water is coming down. We left of with the main river spotty and getting good numbers in the creeks. Just starting to see Trout fishermen get going so should get some reports soon. Browns are on the banks. Casting spoons is a great way to get them on. We are stocked with metal and when the wind is right spoons can cover ground to produce strikes. Brookes in high elevation will take Salted Minnows. Before the thistles come out is the best time. Most of the little feeder streams in high elevation have Brook Trout. Spring fishing is starting to take shape. Cross your fingers for good weather for there is plenty of fish!! Happy fishing!!! srss j button

Hi everyone, Salmon river is running @ 1200 cfs… April can’t get here fast enough!! Spotty in the main river most of the reports are coming out of the creeks. Rule of thumb creeks are best a few days after a hard rain. Water comes up fish come in!! Still some Ice lingering on Bays, Harbors and Ponds. Most have traveled South and West to find fish and better conditions. Perch, Crappie and Bullhead are just around the corner and I’m ready to burst!! After tomorrow we start to warm and should see better movement. Good hard rain followed by a warm front, get Ice out, ingredients to get fishing! Opening day for trout this weekend and we are stocked with bait. Salted minnows, Trout Worms, Butter worms, Egg sacs, Night crawlers, Wax worms, meal worms, Oak leaf grubs, Spikes, Leeches, Buckeyes, Fatheads, Rosy reds, and Mousees. The door is open!! Happy fishing!! srss j. button
