Hello everyone!
A quick river report and then on to ice fishing! The Salmon River is currently running at 2200 cfs. With such high flow and breaking up of the shelf ice, the river isn’t really fishable right now. Water flow is shown to remain at 2200 cfs at least until midnight tomorrow. Hopefully in the next few days it will be going down to safer levels. Ice fishing this week however has been great. I have had lots of reports of great fishing off of the pond and areas to the north. Remember that you should always practice safety when on the ice and always have the appropriate safety gear with you, you never know what is gonna happen. Stop in and pick up any safety gear you might be missing, we just got in new shipments of ice picks, safety sets, and safety treads. The winter classic is running hot and heavy, and boy is it heavy! The leading fish in the state right now is a whopping 19.26 lb Northern Pike! With about a month and a half left, who knows what we will see! Our inner board is going strong with several entries! If you are on our inner board, bring in those fish! It’s also not too late to sign up for the winter classic and our inner board. Stop and sign up today! If you didn’t know, one day passes for the winter classic are available, just remember that you have to purchase one before you bring in that monster fish! Stop by the store for more details. We have pop ups, augers, rods, reels, and other accessories all in stock! We have plenty of bait as well! As always, stay safe and warm out there!

We also still have plenty of live bait! Our tanks are full! Take advantage of the nice weather coming and get out there! The Winter Classic is in full swing as well as our inner board so bring in those fish! If you are not signed up for the Classic or our inner board, don’t worry it’s not too late! Come in and sign up! HI Everyone! Salmon River is running at 500 CFS. This will help break up some of the ice that has been building up that makes it difficult to fish. The biggest impact to Steelhead fishing right now are the temperatures. Though there are plenty of fish in the river, and they will be here till late spring, the single digit temperatures are not making it fisherman friendly. Keep your eyes on the weather and look for those days where the temperature gets into the high 20’s and lower 30’s in later morning to early afternoon. Be sure to get at them in the deep holes. Snow is always a factor this time of year, but if you are into snowmobiling, this is your year. Come up and spend a few days and you can get in some Steelhead fishing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling all in the same trip. Ice fishing is off to a great start with lots of fish being reported from Sandy Pond, Chaumont is reporting great Walleye, and Oneida lake had a good showing of fishermen today as well. It is definitely go time!! Remember to always be safe when your ice fishing and to carry safety gear. We have ice picks, ice cleats, and cold weather gear in stock. Don’t go out unprepared! Stop in and see us before you head out and we can get you set up with the appropriate bait and gear for wherever you decide to go. We are running a special tomorrow on our Facebook store. The first 5 people to order will receive free shipping and a free gift with their order. The discount code will be FreeFree. We will continue to try to put things up as we go. If you have a special request for us to put something online, message us and we will try to get it up there if possible. Don’t forget we are open 7 days a week 5 am to 8 pm and the Ice Fishing Hotline is available at 315-298-4343. Stay safe and warm out there!!

Hi everyone, Hope everyone had a good Christmas and I wish everyone a Happy New Year!! Most of my time has been measuring snow in feet and the ice in inches. Dug out the shop and we are open!! Got up to Green point and they were busy moving snow and making room for parking. Couple trees down that they had to trim back so careful getting in!! Walked out 150 yards on the pond, about a foot of snow, slush underneath, 3 to 4 inches of white snow ice and 3 to 4 inches of black. Black ice is what we are after!! COLD!! COLD!! COLD!! Will help thicken black ice even with snow on top. Thought there was a little more slush then there should be. Green point is open remember to pay to park and pick up your trash. Always take out more then you take in no matter were your fishing!! Loaded the tanks with minnows!! Plenty of bait for everyone to get through the holiday weekend!! Be Safe!! srss j button

Hi Everyone! The Salmon River is running at 335 CFS. Reports on Steelhead are mixed. Some are reporting good numbers while others are reporting little action. There are plenty of fish in the river, be sure to check deep holes and pockets. Stop in and let us know how you did today! Though ice fishing is on a lot of peoples minds right now, don’t forget that Steelhead are in the river until spring and there is a trout category in the Winter Classic. With the cold weather, we have been getting lots of questions about ice fishing conditions. Not much has changed in the last couple of days. Recent reports from Sandy Pond still indicate spotty ice. We are still getting reports of good ice on Black Lake. Before heading out, stop in and see us for ice fishing bait, gear, and info. Mid to late next week we are still expecting low temperatures in the single digits and some below zero. Sandy Pond should be good to go by January 1st. We will keep you up dated regularly, so be sure to check out our page often. Don’t forget, you can always call Button on the Ice Fishing Hotline at 315-298-4343. As the last week of December approaches, we would like to remind everyone that we are still taking registrations for the NYS Winter Classic which officially begins January 1st. We have the biggest shanty in the state to be given away for the Winter Classic! We have lots of free goods for those who register and an inner board for those who also want to compete locally! Top prize for our inner board is also a shanty! We have two raffles running during the Winter Classic. One for an Automatic Fisherman and one for a tackle box filled with tackle. Everyone who signs up for the Winter Classic with us gets a free entry into both raffles. Tickets for the raffles are $2 each or 3 for $5. With 7 categories including Pike, Perch, Trout, Crappie, Pickerel, Panfish, and Walleye, there are lots of chances to win prizes, so stop in and register today! If you have any questions, give us a call or come see us 7 days a week 5 am to 8 pm. Stay Safe and Warm out there!

Hi everyone, Salmon river is running @ 335 cfs… More fish!!! More weather!!! Looks like weather is going to give us a little bit of a break. Rain, snow, wind and most of the month flooded, made it tough for fishing!! Most questions asked? Is there still fish in the Salmon River? Plenty of fish!!!!! These fish aren’t going any ware and the Browns are still showing spawn. A lot of Browns will release back to the lake but there here now. Steelhead are in the river all the way to May and there’s a pile of them. Is there fish in town? Where should I go? There is fish in the lower half 2a down stream. Fresh fish coming in every day more apt to bite. Great to see more fish movement!! Not many people on the lower this time of year, more room to fish!! Heavy concentration of people and fish up stream, all these fish off the lake are heading one way. How’s the bite? Trout are like a light switch on and off. Gotta put a day in there’s fish in front of you. Before you head out to your favorite spot stop in and see us!! We will help you with your rig, bait, location and put you on fish. Will give you the arrows ya just gotta be a good Indian!! Every few days we have bin adding new items to our Facebook store. No orders yet!! I have been listing some good deals!! Happy Fishing!! srss j button Pics are from the last five days!!
